  • How to simulate limit order fills in MT5?

    Hi everyone,

This is my maiden post here. Hello to everyone!

I am currently testing an eMini scalping strategy on MT5 - which requires getting into the order with limit orders.
The limit orders in AMP demo accounts get filled instantly - making the strategy a huge success. However, the same strategy fails miserably when run on live environment - as my limit orders either don't get filled or get filled so late that they loose their scalping advantage.

Is there a way to simulate a real limit order like fill as it happens in live environment - so I can modify my strategy to suit live environments?
Tradovate's demo accounts allow that, but they are not scriptable with EA's like MT5.

    Thanks!

When you work limit orders below..buy..and above...sell as soon as the market hits these areas you are filled on demo instead of having to watch the market work certain areas and then trade away if all orders are not satisfied..live scenario. the best thing to do IMHO to simulate is to use STOP Orders to eneter and exit the market..buy stop above sell stop below..that way the market has to trade to these areas for you to get a fill. try that and see if it works better for your strategy.

Hi there, thanks for replying back.
While it'll help to use the stop orders, but the delay caused due to limit fills is generally the make or break in a scalping strategy.
Using market orders means loosing a tick (or more).

Can delay in fills for limit orders be added to Amp's demo servers?
MT5 clearly seems to be supporting it - as Amp in live account works correctly as expected (with delays in fills).

      Thanks
