  • How long can stay automated forex strategy profitable?

Many are saying that automated trading strategies can be successful only for a limited period of the time. This is often true, many strategies are loosing their performance or they go sidewise. However there are also strategies that are not losing their performance. As an example, we can take the strategy that has been created in StrategyQuant and that has been profitable for 21 months.

I have prepared for you the description of the strategy that has been successfully running over the last 21 months. I will show how it looks and how it trades.

Can these strategies be used on CME currency futures like the Euro Currency and others?. EU6M18 is the symbol on CQG data feed. Please show some examples if this will work outside of FX. thanks for the contribution.

Yes, this is possible. With StrategyQuant you can create strategies also for futures as well. As first you need to import data: They can be imported in csv format. You can check how to import data from TradeStation or *********** platform in our manual (https://www.strategyquant.com/licenses/d?code=squg) starting with page 83. Then you can then develop new strategies. Finally you need to export strategies into TradeStation or *********** and you can start to trade them on futures market.

HYPOTHETICAL PERFORMANCE RESULTS HAVE MANY INHERENT LIMITATIONS, SOME OF WHICH ARE DESCRIBED BELOW. NO REPRESENTATION IS BEING MADE THAT ANY ACCOUNT WILL OR IS LIKELY TO ACHIEVE PROFITS OR LOSSES SIMILAR TO THOSE SHOWN. IN FACT, THERE ARE FREQUENTLY SHARP DIFFERENCES BETWEEN HYPOTHETICAL PERFORMANCE RESULTS AND THE ACTUAL RESULTS SUBSEQUENTLY ACHIEVED BY ANY PARTICULAR TRADING PROGRAM.

ONE OF THE LIMITATIONS OF HYPOTHETICAL PERFORMANCE RESULTS IS THAT THEY ARE GENERALLY PREPARED WITH THE BENEFIT OF HINDSIGHT. IN ADDITION, HYPOTHETICAL TRADING DOES NOT INVOLVE FINANCIAL RISK, AND NO HYPOTHETICAL TRADING RECORD CAN COMPLETELY ACCOUNT FOR THE IMPACT OF FINANCIAL RISK IN ACTUAL TRADING. FOR EXAMPLE, THE ABILITY TO WITHSTAND LOSSES OR TO ADHERE TO A PARTICULAR TRADING PROGRAM IN SPITE OF TRADING LOSSES ARE MATERIAL POINTS WHICH CAN ALSO ADVERSELY AFFECT ACTUAL TRADING RESULTS. THERE ARE NUMEROUS OTHER FACTORS RELATED TO THE MARKETS IN GENERAL OR TO THE IMPLEMENTATION OF ANY SPECIFIC TRADING PROGRAM WHICH CANNOT BE FULLY ACCOUNTED FOR IN THE PREPARATION OF HYPOTHETICAL PERFORMANCE RESULTS AND ALL OF WHICH CAN ADVERSELY AFFECT ACTUAL TRADING RESULTS.
