  • TradingTheTape joins the new AMP Forum

Great so see the AMP Forum being launched! Glad to join in the progress which has been rapid over the last couple of years.

TradingTheTape.com is a training and trading software site for daytrading futures. We trade exclusively based on Order Flow or traded volume.

Our only interest is in the market's reaction to traded size. No indicators. No DOM. No T&S. Just reaction to size like in a Trading Pit.

We track major players as they control (manipulate) the market with their much larger relative size. In the right Market Context this clear control offers up high probability (80%+) trades which allow us to trade with very low entry risk (0-1 ticks). With high probability and low risk we can trade larger size.

At that point it comes down to "Is the market performing to our low risk tolerance or not?" When it is, we scale-in more size. When it is not, we walk away.

And of course we train - a lot.

i was checking out your site and love the example of the bond pit. as a young man i traded in the bond pit briefly before moving to the s&p 500 for almost 20 years. Reading the tape and understanding order flow and auction market theory is definitely a skill that takes some time as you develop a "feel" for certain markets. today with DOM trading you can actually get a sense of a particular market and its personality by observing the behavior of price and orders. I found this video of the great Charlie D He was a legendary bond pit trader around the same time as Tom Baldwin. Im going to share it here. He talks about pit mechanics and watching order flow in the CBOT bond pit Enjoy

HYPOTHETICAL PERFORMANCE RESULTS HAVE MANY INHERENT LIMITATIONS, SOME OF WHICH ARE DESCRIBED BELOW. NO REPRESENTATION IS BEING MADE THAT ANY ACCOUNT WILL OR IS LIKELY TO ACHIEVE PROFITS OR LOSSES SIMILAR TO THOSE SHOWN. IN FACT, THERE ARE FREQUENTLY SHARP DIFFERENCES BETWEEN HYPOTHETICAL PERFORMANCE RESULTS AND THE ACTUAL RESULTS SUBSEQUENTLY ACHIEVED BY ANY PARTICULAR TRADING PROGRAM.

ONE OF THE LIMITATIONS OF HYPOTHETICAL PERFORMANCE RESULTS IS THAT THEY ARE GENERALLY PREPARED WITH THE BENEFIT OF HINDSIGHT. IN ADDITION, HYPOTHETICAL TRADING DOES NOT INVOLVE FINANCIAL RISK, AND NO HYPOTHETICAL TRADING RECORD CAN COMPLETELY ACCOUNT FOR THE IMPACT OF FINANCIAL RISK IN ACTUAL TRADING. FOR EXAMPLE, THE ABILITY TO WITHSTAND LOSSES OR TO ADHERE TO A PARTICULAR TRADING PROGRAM IN SPITE OF TRADING LOSSES ARE MATERIAL POINTS WHICH CAN ALSO ADVERSELY AFFECT ACTUAL TRADING RESULTS. THERE ARE NUMEROUS OTHER FACTORS RELATED TO THE MARKETS IN GENERAL OR TO THE IMPLEMENTATION OF ANY SPECIFIC TRADING PROGRAM WHICH CANNOT BE FULLY ACCOUNTED FOR IN THE PREPARATION OF HYPOTHETICAL PERFORMANCE RESULTS AND ALL OF WHICH CAN ADVERSELY AFFECT ACTUAL TRADING RESULTS.
